Guest Kikuchi Fuma-san
[First part]
Nakamaru: What do you want to talk about?
Kikuchi: Eh? This doesn't have a topic to talk about prepared?
Nakamaru: It doesn't. Well, usually it's about acting, the groups, YouTube and private time.
Kikuchi: How difficult! So what do you want to talk about? Any topic is fine by me.
Nakamaru: Let's talk about your group. What's your group doing lately?
Kikuchi: We'll be starting the rehearsals for our Tokyo Dome concert in November. We had concerts in arenas and now we'll be doing domes. We are finally having our first concerts in a dome so we want to think carefully about the contents so we are in the middle of thinking about all of that.
Nakamaru: So maybe half of the contents will be different from the arena concerts?
Kikuchi: Maybe not as much as half of it. But the arena tour was made after an album; an album that was released in summer, so we have to keep in mind it was full of summer-like songs.
Nakamaru: I see, so you are thinking of the season. And what do you think of having your first concert in a dome?
Kikuchi: Domes are big.
Nakamaru: Do you mean in size?
Kikuchi: Yes! I've always thinking of the production of concerts in arenas. And just seeing the blueprints of the dome, I can feel how big it is. You see? I've been there in concerts of senpais and other artist. And there I saw how the distance to the stage really feels. What I'm thinking now is that we have to keep in mind how to make the actual physical distance feels closer, and not only getting close to their hearts.
Nakamaru: So you are thinking a lot about that at the moment. Nakajima (Kento) is now taking part in a foreign series (Hulu Original, "Concordia (tentative title)"), isn't he?
Kikuchi: He is abroad, yes. He is in Europe at the moment.
Nakamaru: Is he that good at English?
Kikuchi: Yes. It seems for this series, he's been practicing his pronunciation and many other things. That's what someone else told me.
Nakamaru: So you don't know much about it?
Kikuchi: I don't. But I could feel how hard he studied for it.
Nakamaru: I've seen him having a conversation and his pronunciation looks really good. Kikuchi, your film ("Motto Chouetsu Shita Tokoro e") has already been released, hasn't it? What kind of film is it?
Kikuchi: It's about the story of 4 different couples. 4 women who have fell for men who are scum...
Nakamaru: Your role is someone who is scum?
Kikuchi: Yes.
Nakamaru: Then it's perfect for you (laughs).
Kikuchi: Thanks (laughs)! It was last year precisely around this time. Doribo (DREAM BOYS) ended and we started filming the movie.
Nakamaru: I see. And it has finally been released. How is it to take part in a movie?
Kikuchi: I don't have the opportunity to take part in a movie often, so I was surprised to see the differences with the filming of a drama. It's completely different, even the way of filming. In dramas, the time used for filming each scene is decided beforehand, isn't it? For the movie it wasn't like that at all. It was more like, "we are going to shoot this scene for as long as it is necessary!". That was something new for me. We have also been going to many cinemas to present the movie. And I've been thinking how hard the presentations are... No matter what I say, it's always a fail.
Nakamaru: So true (laughs).
Kikuchi: It's not like I'm terrible scared of it. But in the past years, I've been taking part in many different variety shows, but the presentations are scary... (Then he stops talking and looks at Nakamaru).
Nakamaru: (With a blank expression, prompts Kikuchi to speak) Please, continue.
Kikuchi: An old man? Eh... Was I talking to an old man? What do you mean with "please, continue!?"
Nakamaru: Buahahaha! (Going back to the conversation) Well, that's the thing with movies, right?
Kikuchi: (Obediently going back to the conversation) Yes. There are many new things to experience after all. Don't you want to have acting jobs? It's not like you don't like them, is it?
Nakamaru: Yes.
Kikuchi: But your schedule would be harder, right? Would you do it if you were paid 100 million?
Nakamaru: I would.
Kikuchi: You are really the worst (laughs). But I'd like to watch it. "Sushi Oji! 3"
Nakamaru: No, no, we haven't done the 2 yet (laughs)! Do you enjoy acting?
Kikuchi: I do. I enjoy doing it, but there are still many things I don't know.
Nakamaru: What do you mean?
Kikuchi: Like, I still don't know if I'm suited to acting.
Nakamaru: But there isn't a right answer for that. There might be the basic standards of being good or bad, but it's not about that.
Kikuchi: Yes. That's why I give my all every time. Furthermore, every producer or director says a different thing. So instead of thinking of doing the acting better or becoming better at acting, I think it's better to be able to adapt yourself to any situation.
Nakamaru: Shall we talk about YouTube?
Kikuchi: Okay!
Nakamaru: Doing YouTube videos is fun, right?
Kikuchi: Yes. We've been doing it for around one year and a half?
Nakamaru: For so long already!?
Kikuchi: We started in April last year after all, didn't we?
Nakamaru: Waah, you're right... Time flies. I'm looking forward to filming the next video.
Kikuchi: What was next again?
Nakamaru: Doing cosplay and putting on makeup...
Kikuchi: The one in which we'll dance? We unexpectedly got into it.
Nakamaru: Eh, isn't it funny? Not much?
Kikuchi: No, it is, but... It seems it is not liked when we put that much effort.
Nakamaru: Not at all. I like it. I like comedy skits and things like that.
Kikuchi: So you do like acting.
Nakamaru: I don't dislike it, of course, but... I think the jobs in which I have to memorize many lines are too hard.
Kikuchi: If you had one of those jobs of memorizing, would be okay for you to dance too? Singing and dancing would be okay?
Nakamaru: There are many places where dancing can be useful. Like concerts, music shows or many other places.
Kikuchi: So it's about benefits! You are living thinking of benefits! So you are like Costco.
Nakamaru: Benefits and Costco have nothing to do with each other.
(T/N: Here Fuma is mixing "kosupa," literally "cost performance," with "Kosutoko," the supermarket named Cosco)
Kikuchi: (Laughs) Well, anyway, doing YouTube is fun. Doesn't it feel weird? It's different from being in a group. Because who are the senpais and who are the kouhais is clearly differentiated, but we really don't think much about it.
Nakamaru: You're right. The filming are also a good way of relaxing.
Kikuchi: They are!
Nakamaru: It is work, but it doesn't feel like it. That's really good.
Kikuchi: It's actually terrible that that is actual work (laughs). I wonder if that's really okay... Like, we appear there with no makeup and such.
Nakamaru: Also, the equipment we use. They are simple things.
Kikuchi: You're right, we mostly use smart phones. But, it's fun. I want to keep doing it forever.
Nakamaru: So in the end you won't stream video games?
Kikuchi: You mean "Yakuza?" I want to do it. I want to do it, but I don't have the necessary equipment to do it.
Nakamaru: Nah. If you really wanted to do it, you would get everything set up in one day.
Kikuchi: Then, do it for me, please. Come to my house.
Nakamaru: I don't want to. If you look for it on the internet, you'll do it in a moment.
Kikuchi: No, I can't! It's too difficult.
Nakamaru: (Stays silent for a moment)
Kikuchi: Eh... So are we done?
Nakamaru: No, no (laughs). (He looks at the question the staff shows them saying, "How does Kikuchi-san see Nakamaru-san?") What about that? How do you see me?
Kikuchi: You are like some relative older than me.
Nakamaru: How specific (laughs).
Kikuchi: Isn't that the closest? Like, it doesn't matter what happens, since we share the same blood, anything will be forgiven (laughs). It's like that.
Nakamaru: Well... I get what you are saying, but! You go too far sometimes!
Kikuchi: Should I stop?
Nakamaru: Well, isn't it fine?
Kikuchi: I had never seen you getting close to any kouhai, Nakamaru-kun. So I just wanted to see it... Nah, I didn't give it too much of a thought. I didn't even think whether it'd be fun or not (laughs). How did we even start to get close? I don't remember why. But I'm the youngest in Jyanino Channel. Ninomiya-kun is the oldest and should be the one scolding me, right? But he isn't like that with me. I thought that he would never be mad at me. So who could I drive crazy...? Well, Yamada-kun is someone strict, but he wouldn't be like that for YouTube so he wouldn't get mad either. So if I wanted to make someone angry, it'd have to be Nakamaru-kun. I thought that would be good...
Nakamaru: I don't get you at all.
Kikuchi: Buahaha! So the thing I'm the most afraid right now is to make Kamenashi-kun and Ueda-kun angry. That's the only thing I'm afraid of.
Nakamaru: What do you mean? (Laughs)
Kikuchi: They haven't told you anything (about Jyanino)?
Nakamaru: Not really...
Kikuchi: Thank goodness... They haven't found out yet (laughs). Well, our fights are like an improvised comedy skit. Deep inside I'm licking your boots.
Nakamaru: You are not!
Kikuchi: This is fun, right? (Laughs)
Nakamaru: But wouldn't it also work with Ninomiya-kun?
Kikuchi: I also do it to Ninomiya-kun quite a lot. But your response is different.
Nakamaru: Is that so?
Kikuchi: Because you always get back at me with strong blows, don't you? Ninomiya-kun hits me softly at most. But both of you are fast at responding. The few times the kind-hearted Yamada-kun bullies you, it's so soft, your response is thin like smoke.
Nakamaru: Hahaha (laughs). Well, it kinda feels like it's our private time, so we relax ourselves. Isn't that okay like that?
Kikuchi: So this means I've got your permission to keep bullying you, right!?
Nakamaru: What I'm trying to say is that a balance is important! A balance!
Kikuchi: Buahahaha! (Laughs hard)
Nakamaru: Because we are in a world with many types of principles. You have to look for balance (laughs). How do you behave with other senpais apart from us in Jyanino Channel? You wait and see how things are before doing anything?
Kikuchi: Nah, it depends on the person. But generally speaking, I'm not like that.
Nakamaru: Really? Don't you usually think of bullying them?
Kikuchi: I usually don't. I only bully the people who look like they would forgive me (laughs).
Nakamaru: So when you are sure someone will forgive you, you get closer to them?
Kikuchi: Yes, yes. But there aren’t many people who look like they would forgive me (laughs).
Nakamaru: It's just other people gave you that impression.
Kikuchi: In stages or TV and such, there aren’t many opportunities to see how someone would react, don't you think? On TV is difficult to suddenly bully someone, don't you think? There is almost none else I bully like a bully you (laughs).
Nakamaru: I'd like you to have someone else. If you do, then I'd be okay with you bullying me (laughs).
Kikuchi: No, no... I'll just say this. (Very loudly) I'm sure I can do it like that only with you, Nakamaru!
Nakamaru: Where's the "kun" or "san?"
Kikuchi: Buahahahaha! But honestly, don't you enjoy it, Nakamaru-kun?
Nakamaru: Well... It depends on the balance (laughs). So one time at a day is fine. Two times are too much. I enjoy it the first time, but it's annoying the second time! Something like that.
Kikuchi: But don't you like that too?
Nakamaru: No, I don't.
Kikuchi: Because if I'm not annoying, you won't get back at me, right?
Nakamaru: No, it isn't like that.
Kikuchi: No. If I'm not annoying, you barely respond.
Nakamaru: There's another thing. Thanks to YouTube I've got to talk to many other kouhais. I'm happy having all of these interactions. If it weren't because of YouTube, I wouldn't interact with anybody. Not so long ago, Igari (Soya) for example, texted me saying he had turned 20.
Kikuchi: How saucy! I'll scold him!!
Nakamaru: He didn't mean it like that (laughs). We are also getting close to Travis Japan.
Kikuchi: Yes, with Travis! And also with Kansai Juniors... We wouldn't have had contact with Ae! group if not for YouTube. Since we've got Jyanino, they have been asking us to let them appear there and that made us interact with them at least once.
Nakamaru: Yes. If it wasn't because of Jyanino, I wouldn't know who they are.
Kikuchi: Don't kouhais want to talk with you, Nakamaru-kun?
Nakamaru: I can't approach them if I think they don't want to.
Kikuchi: It's hard to approach you, Nakamaru-kun. You give off an aura of "don't get close to me!"
Nakamaru: I don't, do I? (Laughs)
Kikuchi: No, I'm telling you you do. You've got a face that says "I don't have anything to do with you" (laughs).
Nakamaru: Well, I do think that I don't have anything to do with them (laughs).
Kikuchi: You do! Kouhais grow up looking at their senpais' back. I've also grown up looking at your back, Nakamaru-kun.
Nakamaru: You are right. I think that too. Like they boy who did beat boxing from not so long ago.
Kikuchi: Yes. Maruetsu-kun? What that his name?
Nakamaru: It's Maruoka (Kousei)-kun. Maruetsu is the name of a grocery store. With him, it's like I have to support him; or more like, with how apart our ages are, that's the role I must have.
Kikuchi: That's right! But... Most kouhais don't get close to you. They feel your "I don't have anything to do with you" (laughs). Normally you don't approach them. Unless they are the ones back dancing for you. They only ones are me, Igari and Maruoka.
Nakamaru: Buahaha (laughs). That's why I'm learning many things with YouTube... (He goes silent one more time) I've been doing this section in this magazine for one year.
Kikuchi: Yes.
Nakamaru: This interview with you is the one I'm the least excited with.
Kikuchi: Don't be stupid!
Nakamaru: Buahahahahaha! Maybe it's because we see each other often?
Kikuchi: In the first place... Don't you even have anything to ask me?
Nakamaru: Nah, I've probably heard it all already.
Kikuchi: This is not the end! Nor for me!! (Laughs)
Nakamaru: (Laughs)
